Dryer problems we help with
LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, Maytag, GE and other major brands. We diagnose heating, noise, drum-drive and start faults before recommending parts.
01 / Heating
The drum can turn normally while the heating or ignition system has failed. We test the relevant heat source, safety devices and controls before recommending parts.
02 / Noise
We inspect drum supports, rollers, the idler pulley, belt and other moving components to locate the sound before recommending the repair.
03 / Operation
A stopped drum can involve the belt, motor, door switch, controls or another drive component. We test the machine and explain the repair price before work starts.
More dryer problems we repair
We repair the dryer itself: heating, drum movement, motors, switches and controls. Each symptom is checked before parts are recommended.
We inspect rollers, the idler pulley, the belt and other moving parts to find the source of the noise.
A broken belt, worn idler, seized roller, motor problem or another drive-system fault can stop the drum from tumbling.
Intermittent shutdowns can involve the motor, thermal protection, airflow, wiring or electronic controls.
Worn drum supports, a damaged roller or another mechanical problem can make each load unusually loud.
Stop using the dryer if you notice a burning smell or unusual overheating. Lint, a slipping belt, motor trouble or electrical heat can all require inspection.
A dryer that keeps running may have a timer, moisture-sensor, control-board or switch problem depending on the model.
We check the igniter, flame sensor, gas-valve coils, thermal protection and the burner sequence rather than replacing parts by guesswork.
Display errors, unresponsive controls and sensor-cycle problems can come from wiring, sensors, switches or electronic control components.
Gas & electric dryers
Both gas and electric dryers use airflow, temperature control, drum-drive and safety components. The heat source is different, so the diagnostic path is different too.
Common checks include the heating element, thermal fuse, thermostats and high-limit protection, motor and centrifugal switch, belt, rollers, idler, sensors and electronic controls.
Common checks include the igniter, flame sensor, gas-valve coils, thermal fuse, airflow, burner operation, motor, drum-drive components and controls.
Common repair patterns
Field experience
Local Appliance Repair has been in business for 8 years, with hands-on experience across thousands of appliance repairs. Dryer diagnostics include the heating system, airflow, drum support, drive components, safety devices, wiring and controls—not just the first part that matches a symptom.
Real repair examples
These photos are from our actual dryer repair work. They show why a symptom alone is not enough to identify the failed part.

Noise / drum support
The dryer was rumbling heavily. Several rollers were badly worn and some had seized, letting the drum ride unevenly. The roller set was replaced and the drum returned to smooth operation.

Gas heat / burner
The gas dryer was heating poorly because burner operation was weak and inconsistent. Diagnosis pointed to the gas-valve coils; replacing them restored normal burner operation and heat.

Drum not turning
A broken belt left the drum unable to turn. The belt was replaced and the idler and drum-support system were checked before reassembly.

Inside the dryer cabinet
This dryer had extensive lint and dust around the motor and internal ducting. Heavy buildup can restrict airflow and increase heat risk. This example shows buildup inside the appliance, not a vent-cleaning service. We do not clean the exhaust duct through the house.

Dryer repair in Santa Monica
We provide same-day dryer appointments for Santa Monica addresses in 90401–90405, including apartments, condominiums and single-family homes. LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, Maytag, GE and other major household brands are covered.
No heat, noise and drum-drive faults are the focus. A dryer that turns cold, squeaks through every load or stops moving needs different checks. We test the appliance, explain the failed component and quote the repair before approved work starts.
Plan for the actual laundry space. Tell us whether the dryer is stacked, upstairs, in a closet or behind a separate entrance. Include the unit number, gate or stair instructions. Leave heavy equipment in place so the technician can assess access before moving it.
Before you call
Yes. Same-day dryer appointments are available throughout Santa Monica 90401–90405. We are open every day, 7 AM–8 PM Pacific Time. Call to book the visit. A model-specific part may need to be ordered, so completing the repair can require a return visit.
We diagnose no-heat faults on gas and electric dryers. The heating or ignition system, safety devices and relevant controls are tested before we recommend parts. A turning drum does not identify the failed heating component.
Rollers, drum supports, the idler pulley, belt or another moving component may be involved. Tell us whether the sound starts immediately or changes during a load. We locate the source before choosing parts.
A belt failure is one possibility. The motor, door switch, drum supports, controls or another drive component can create a similar symptom. Stop repeated start attempts and let us test what is preventing movement.
Yes. Both types share drum-drive and control components, but the heat source is different. Gas dryers use an ignition and burner system; electric dryers use an electric heating circuit. We diagnose the system fitted to your machine.
Yes. Tell us about the stacked pair, closet doors, stairs, unit number and building access when booking. Leave heavy equipment in place. The technician assesses the installation and explains any handling needed for the approved repair.
No. We repair the dryer itself; dryer vent and duct cleaning through the wall, roof or building are not services we provide. If you already know the exhaust duct is blocked, use an appropriate dryer-vent cleaning specialist or property-maintenance service.
We explain the diagnosis and proposed repair price before work starts. The diagnostic/service call is applied toward an approved repair. Completed repairs include our parts and labor guarantee, and we check operation after the approved work.
